The entire route leads almost exclusively through green Siegauen, the river is almost always in sight and offers itself not only as a sight and photo opportunity, but also as a wonderful resting place and experience area. In Siegburg-Buisdorf you can watch the jumping salmon at the fish ladder and learn more about the journey of the salmon at the Wissenshaus der Wanderfische. Enjoy a swim in the Sieg at the bathing area in Hennef-Weingartsgasse. Canoeists stop here to rest with their boats.
The next highlight on the route is the Allner See, which is easily accessible via the Horstmannsteg in Hennef. On the playground and sunbathing area right by the lake, you can play soccer, fly shuttlecocks, and of course swim in the lake.
If you prefer to take a leisurely stroll, then head to the nearby city center of Hennef. There you will also find the train station with direct S-Bahn connection, and just about 3 kilometers from this point lies the Kletterwald Hennef. The facility consists of 14 courses of different difficulty levels with many elements that have been installed in a tree-friendly manner at heights ranging from three to twelve meters. The climbing forest is designed for the whole family and offers plenty of challenges for both beginners and advanced climbers.
Further along the Sieg in Lauthausen, you have several options to set up your tent after an eventful day. However, Lauthausen is located on the other side of the Sieg. There is no direct bridge between the bike path and the campsite. So, you have to leave the Sieg bike path at junction 22 and then ride towards Lauthausen. Various campsites are located directly by the water. There is also an official canoe launching and landing point here.
Just four kilometers away, the town of Blankenberg awaits you. You can already see its landmark, the Blankenberg Castle, well from a distance by bike. The castle complex with four towers and a city wall is well preserved. To visit it, you should park your bicycles at a mill below and use the hiking trail. The road to the castle is very steep and narrow. For wine connoisseurs, there is a small museum providing insights into the history of winemaking. A visit to the Katharinenturm will inform you on four floors about the history of the town of Blankenberg, the city of Hennef, and the region. Children can expect an exciting journey through time in Blankenberg. Under the motto "Save the Town of Blankenberg", you can solve puzzles at eight stations around and through the town. The puzzle booklet is available for download, but can also be obtained on-site at the gastronomy establishments.
