To the summit of the Carl Alexander Park

At the mountain foyer, the central meeting point in CarlAlexanderPark, the ascent to the mountain plateau located at a height of 80 meters begins, a quiet place to linger with a magnificent panoramic view over the Euregio Maas-Rhine region. The ascent to the mountain plateau is done in a spectacular way via a walkway installed in the mountain foyer, leading through the treetops of the mine dump.
Information boards provide insights into the very special plant and animal world that has settled along the slopes after the recultivation of the mine dump. The return journey leads along a beautiful mountain path, with rest areas and a viewpoint overlooking the old Roman road "Via Belgica" inviting you to linger.
Finally, it is recommended to explore the mountain park at the foot of the mine dump, which has emerged on an area of around seven hectares at the southern edge of the mine dump, against the impressive backdrop of the industrial forest. The mountain park also houses the youth camp with camp boxes as well as spacious open spaces for numerous play and sports activities, making the tour the perfect excursion for the whole family.
