From the brine spa Bad Salzuflen to the Hanseatic city of Herford

Leaving everyday life behind while hikingStarting from the charming Staatsbad Salzuflen, hikers set off on the Hansaweg trail to Herford. It is worthwhile to take a few deep breaths at the experience graduation tower in Bad Salzuflen before heading to the actual starting point of the Hansaweg. At the salt graduation tower, the brine trickles over the branches of the blackthorn. This causes the finest brine droplets to atomize in the air, and by deep inhalation and exhalation, one takes in the droplets in the airways. The health effects have been proven for the upper respiratory tract, lungs, and skin.
After this refreshing experience at the graduation tower, one feels ready for the hiking trail.

Gently ascending between the golf course and Obernberg, one experiences the green lung in the city forest of Salzuflen. Before crossing the A2 motorway on a pedestrian bridge, one is greeted by the softly babbling Bocksieksbach stream.

Tip: Those who want to follow the enchanted Bocksieksbach on another hike to the northeast will discover the idyllic, quiet Kellerteiche ponds and will reach the wild and romantic Finnebachtal valley after a few kilometers.

The Hansaweg trail gently leads to the 214 m high Stuckenberg and hiking trail 2. From this elevation, especially in the winter months with sparsely leafed trees, excellent views of the district and the Hanseatic city of Herford can be enjoyed.
The Bismarck tower near Herford was inaugurated in 1906 after a planning and construction phase of around two years. From the viewing platform at a height of around 23 m, you can enjoy a fantastic panoramic view in all directions. The picnic area at the tower invites you to have a picnic in the green nature.
Destination Herford within reachAfter a well-deserved rest at the Bismarck tower or on the outdoor terrace of the Steinmeyer restaurant, we follow the Hansaweg towards Herford. The path runs almost parallel to the Ellersiekerbach stream along a green belt until it meets the Werre river.

Upon reaching the Werre river, the final hiking stage of the day awaits. On flat paths, you can look at the ramparts, the banks of the Werre and the Aa river at rare specimens of weeping willows, hear the quacking of ducks, or admire graceful swans at the Herford water fountain.
City stroll in HerfordFor a relaxed end to the hiking day, Herford offers a diverse cultural program. A visit to the famous Marta Museum, designed by architect Frank Gehry, is a museum for contemporary art, design, and architecture. The charming boutiques of downtown Herford invite you to stroll around. In addition, Herford's culinary scene entices visitors with a wide variety of culinary delights.
