A good starting point for the tour is the Municipal Museum Schloss Salder. There are plenty of free parking spaces available. The route leads towards Watenstedt and on the bridge of Industriestraße, there is a good view of the steelworks of Salzgitter AG. (Factory tour at www.tourismus-salzgitter.de) Heading towards Beddingen, you pass by MAN and Alstom, the Salzgitter AG, and further to the VW plant. A detour leads to the lock at Üfingen and the route continues past Schacht Konrad.
