Hare and Hedgehog Route: Old Land on the Elbe River Cycling Tour

Cycling in the footsteps of Hare and Hedgehog. With its picturesque old town and canal-like Fleth plant, the Hanseatic and fairytale town of Buxtehude captivates. Here, Hare and Hedgehog once ran the most famous race in history. Numerous exhibits on the fairy tale and regional history can be seen at the Buxtehude Museum. The tour continues through Westmoor and Altklostermoor to Neukloster - known for having the largest Pentecost market in Northern Germany - and through the Neukloster Forest, considered the most natural forest of the Stader Geest. The tour leads on to Nindorf and from there through the idyllic Estetal valley to Ovelgönne. For golf enthusiasts, a stop at the golf courses in Daensen and Immenbeck is worthwhile, guest players are welcome - please observe course rules. In Ovelgönne, there is the over 300-year-old water mill, which also serves as a wedding venue. On special event days, flour is milled and bread is baked here. For those who want to wander a little longer in the footsteps of Hare and Hedgehog, follow the Hare and Hedgehog Trail in Buxtehude. It runs through the city from Wettloopsweg in the south to Has' and Igelwiete in the north, passing by 14 Hare and Hedgehog sculptures.
