Always on the trail of the otter, this otter path leads from Wahrenholz to the south. The path and the stations along the way offer many opportunities to experience nature. The four stations address topics such as fish and shepherding. In total, four otter paths invite you to experience the landscape from the perspective of an otter. The otter is a very rare and secretive animal. It is very sensitive to changes in its habitat. In other words, when streams, rivers, ponds, and lakes are in a good ecological condition, they will sooner or later be inhabited by otters as a habitat. The otter has returned to the lowlands of the Ise, a small river in the district of Gifhorn, due to extensive nature conservation measures. Even near the Otter Center in Hankensbüttel, wild otters and their tracks have been spotted. The otter paths lead to these areas to sharpen the focus on the otter's habitats. In total, 24 stations equipped with steel otters invite you to learn about the life of the water marten and nature conservation on site. More information about the otter paths and an accompanying brochure can be obtained from the Otter Center.
