Route description/highlights along the route:
The loop trail begins at the environmental train station in Dannenwalde, where the RE 5 train stops every two hours. From here, cross the railroad crossing a few steps to the north and follow the road "Zum Wentowsee" to the lake shore. On the north shore of the 50-hectare lake, the hiking route leads counterclockwise through mixed forest, in which different tree species are more dominant. Here, flanked by warning signs, the trail winds through a former military training area; to the north of the trail was a Russian artillery ammunition depot. The trail then leads you through the so-called "Wiesenpläne", a rustic forest area crossed by the Polzow Canal and the Pölzer Fließ. At the Polzower Wachthaus you cross the Polzow Canal and follow the asphalted "Buchholzer Weg" southward. After the path takes a left turn, you walk along green meadows through which the peat ditch meanders. The meadows give way a little later to wide fields and you reach the tranquil village of Seilershof. From the main road you turn left into Seestraße and come to the southern shore of the lake, where several bathing spots with sunbathing areas and a children's playground invite you to linger. You can also take a break at the campground snack bar. At the end of the village you will cross the railroad tracks once again. The path now leads north along the federal highway, past the Luisendenkmal. This was built in 1811 on the spot where the body of Queen Luise of Prussia (also Luise Duchess of Mecklenburg-Strelitz) was transferred from Mecklenburg to Prussian sovereignty. After crossing the Tornowfließ, you will reach Dannenwalde again. On the way back to the train station you can walk along the barefoot path, which is located directly at the station path.
