At the starting point, you are greeted by an impressive sight: the historic old town of Isny spreads out beneath the high stone giants in the distance. With its many church and fortified towers, the silhouette of the town traces the Alpine chain. They are connected by symbolic meaning alone: Mountain and tower - both stand for ascent and height, power and overview. In addition, the rock that the glaciers transported here during the ice ages was used as building material for buildings and city walls from the 13th century onwards. This is how the act of creation meets the creative power of man. Both - man and ice - were great builders in the region. With the high mountains, historic sites and beautiful chapels along the way often visible, but sometimes also hidden. Impressive, wild gorges created by the melting ice masses are embedded in the landscape. It is definitely worth planning a stop to discover these treasures. The Eistobel is a real geographical sensation. Here, stone barriers lure out the wildness of the water until the Obere Argen flows full force over rocks, carves out pools and plunges powerfully over an 18-metre drop into the valley towards Lake Constance.
