From above, the Alpine foothills here look like a large, sweeping sea of hills. How it came to be is a story for an adventure novel: a layer of ice several hundred meters high covered the area until around 20,000 years ago. When it began to melt, it folded up rocky giants in the south, pushing and grinding hills, valleys, basins and depressions in the natural treasure troves. And this is exactly where you cycle up and down. This means: with a total of 428 meters in altitude and a length of almost 50 kilometers, the tour is something for the sporty and ambitious - or for e-bikers. The route leads across sunny cornfields and meadows into shady woodland, past ponds and lakes and up to hills such as the one near Balterazhofen. There, a short footpath leads to the forest chapel, from where you can look out over the Nagelfluh mountain range with the striking Hochgrat to the Zugspitze and take in the impressive landscape from a bench. There are also natural treasures along the way: e.g. the Wurzacher Ried near Bad Wurzach, the largest contiguous, intact raised bog in Central Europe and also a construction of prehistoric ice masses. Another typical feature of the region are the isolated farmsteads, which are often far away from the nearest farm and villages. As there are no fences or avenues bordering the fields, you cycle freely and easily across the landscape - apart from the inclines. Only flying is more beautiful!
