Easy tour information for download: The 39 km long circular tour leads through meadows, fields, forests, and idyllic villages. Along the way, you will see historical churches, burial mounds, and a tractor museum.
You start at the Bevenser Schützenfestplatz and cycle southeast towards Groß Hesebeck. Between Groß Hesebeck and Oetzendorf, you'll enjoy a wide view over meadows and fields. Oetzendorf still exists as a circular village - a village form known from the Wendland region. Nature lovers should make a detour to the ponds to the south, which are the spawning habitat of the largest crested newt population in Northern Germany and a breeding ground for cranes.
Continue north towards Höver. The church here is first mentioned in 1311. It was rebuilt at the beginning of the 20th century as it is seen today.
The tour then takes you through Westersunderberg and Brockhimberge to Almstorf. The orchard meadow and the Nabu biotope at the entrance of the village offer beautiful photo opportunities.
From Almstorf, continue to Himbergen with its church from 1843, with a 34-meter high tower and the crucifixion group of a late Gothic carved altarpiece. Open by appointment, Tel. 05828-633. Also worth seeing: Himbergen's local history private collection in the former water tower, Tel. 05828-206.
Further on, you pass through the Wiebeck forest. In Niendorf I, you can admire old agricultural technology at the Scharnhop farm. The collection's centerpiece includes tractors like the 1942 Lanz Bulldog or the 1939 "Kramer Evaporator." March-November daily 8 am-6 pm. A fun activity for groups and families: play Swin-Golf at Niendorf I.
Continue to Haaßel. Here are the oldest traces of human settlement in and around Bad Bevensen: the "Königsgräber von Haaßel" (between 3300 and 3000 BC).
The next stop is Altenmedingen with its 13th-century church, which was the intermediate station of the Medingen monastery before its establishment in 1336 in present-day Medingen. The "Reihenaltar" from around 1480 is worth seeing. Open upon request, Tel. 05807-219.
From Altenmedingen, head back to Bad Bevensen. Here you can relax in the spa park or in the Jod-Sole-Therme.
Route information: mostly low-traffic, paved roads, mostly with separate bike lanes. Occasionally fine gravel field and forest paths. Approximately 3-4% incline/decline.
