Middle Tour infos for download: The pleasant short but eventful family bike tour with 18 km starts in Bad Bodenteich. Along the Elbe lateral canal and through moor and heath landscape it leads to Wieren. Via Kuckstorf and Häcklingen, it goes back to Bad Bodenteich.
In Bad Bodenteich, the decision is difficult: first biking or first playing and romping? The former castle complex in the town center offers a keep with a glass dome, exhibitions on weapons, defense technology, and astronomy from the Middle Ages. In the barefoot park at the castle, you can walk barefoot like people did many hundreds of years ago – even right through the stream! The reconstructed brewery houses the interesting museum "German Unity" with numerous exhibits from the time of Germany's division.
In the park by the lake, both adults and children can really let off steam: mini golf, cross-golf, or pedal boating. Or climbing, sliding, monkeying, swinging on the dragon playground...
But then we start biking! We head out of Bad Bodenteich towards the Elbe lateral canal. The ride along the straight, wide path can be enjoyed in a relaxed manner – with a view of the water and the boats. Shortly after Bad Bodenteich, there is an opportunity for a detour to the Bodenteicher Heide with a sheepfold and nature trail. It is particularly beautiful in midsummer when many thousands of purple heather blossoms enchant the landscape...
Continuing along the canal, we turn right at the height of Wieren and shortly afterwards reach the village. In Wieren, there is a beautiful fieldstone church – ancient, from the 12th century. Opposite is the rest area at the village ponds, where you can take a nice break. In Wieren, there is also a historic watermill from around 1330. It used to be the first power station in the Uelzen district. Today you can take a nice walk around it and look at the fish ladder. From Wieren, we ride back to Bad Bodenteich. What could be more beautiful now than bathing and swimming in the Bodenteicher Waldbad? Dive into the fresh, cool water!
