The audio trail leads through a very interesting landscape area of the FFH area Rothaarkamm and Wiesentäler. Extensive open land areas such as heath or moor alternate with rare forest sites such as birch groves, ravine forests, or well-developed beech forests. With luck, red kites, black woodpeckers, or black storks can be observed. In earlier times, the Ginsberger Heide was an important traffic junction, partly prehistoric highways formed a network of natural paths leading over the ridges. The hiking trail passes closely by the ruins of Ginsburg, which served to secure the border between Franconia and Saxony and to control the long-distance trade routes. From the tower, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views far across the country. The circular trail is an audio trail. The only requirement is a smartphone with a QR code reader to receive exciting information at the individual stations.
