Around the Healing Stone Spring - Day Tip Hiking "Sauermühle"
The free, expansive Dreiborn high plateaus alternating with the lush green forests of the Eifel National Park are a balm for the soul for those who love being active. During the leisurely hiking tour "Sauermühle," you can expect the colorful diversity of Eifel nature and several more highlights.
Overview of the tour
The starting and ending point of this approximately 8-kilometer hike is the National Park Information Point in Einruhr, where you can learn about the region's special features at the beginning of the tour. You should also take a detour to the courtyard of the nearby Healing Stone House. At the Healing Stone Fountain, you can refill your water bottle with healthy water. The precious healing water from the Healing Stone Spring is pumped up from a depth of 52 meters and led to the fountain.
With the delicious water in your hiking backpack, you set off on the approximately 33-square-kilometer Dreiborn high plateau, which, with its spectacular diversity of species, forms an important part of the Eifel National Park. From the plateaus, you then head into the deep green forests of the National Park and down into the valley of the Sauerbach, where the Sauermühle once stood. The mill has long since disappeared, but the Healing Stone Fountain is still fed from here today. Following the babbling Sauerbach, step by step, you return to Einruhr to the starting point of the circular tour. By the way, directly at the lake is the Hotel-Restaurant-Café Haus am See, which is a wonderful place for a stop and refreshments at the end of the hike.
Good to know: The tour is classified as "medium" and is marked with number 45. With pleasant inclines, the Sauermühle loop is a hike for the whole family.
