On promising heights - from Sandebeck to the Eggeweg

From the village of Sandebeck located in the valley, it is necessary to overcome 240 meters in altitude to climb the steep Egge ridge. The tour leads up on wide forest paths through deep woods to the natural paths of the Eggeweg. These lead over rooty paths in the gentle up and down, always directly to the steep edge of the eastern Egge slope.

The deciduous forests give way at the Prussian Velmerstot to an unexpected open landscape, which allows wide views over the Egge, Teutoburg Forest, and Weser Uplands all the way to the Sauerland. For an even better view, climb the Eggeturm on the 468-meter-high summit. With clear visibility, some landmarks of the region can be spotted from there: the Köterberg as well as the Hermannsdenkmal in the northwest and the Desenberg in the southeast.

Before you hike back to Sandebeck, be sure to take a detour to the Lippischer Velmerstot with its rugged rock landscape and exposed sandstone blocks.
