Day trip on the Vennbahn cycle path

The Vennbahn is the longest cross-border cycle path on a former railway line. It leads over a distance of 125 km from Aachen through the Eifel, Belgium, and Luxembourg.
As a relaxed Sunday outing, the section from Monschau to Aachen is particularly well suited, because for the most part it simply means "let it roll"!
With the Eifel cycle bus L66/85 you can travel from Aachen to Monschau-Kalterherberg and start your bike tour there. The cycle bus runs on Sundays and public holidays from Good Friday until the end of the NRW autumn holidays. Information about the timetable can be found on the AVV website.
Between Monschau and Aachen, the Vennbahn crosses German and Belgian territory several times, a refreshing border-hopping experience. The enjoyment experience also has two sides here: a large part of the tour (approx. 38 km) from the forested hunting grounds of the Emperor to Aachen is simply downhill. "Let it roll!" is the motto here. Individual stops are also enjoyable, for example at the Maassen coffee roastery or the mustard mill in Monschau (Note: The Vennbahn does not pass directly through the old town of Monschau. However, the rewarding detour is signposted). Not to forget when crossing the national border, the legendary Belgian fries or the country-specific sweet rice cake.
