The Schwindebecker Heide is a hidden gem. Previously used for military purposes until the 1990s,
it is now an impressive example of the revitalization of heathlands.

From the Field Marshal's Hill, you can enjoy the impressive view over the expanse
of the landscape. The Schwindequelle is the second most water-rich spring in Lower Saxony.

The Luhetal valley offers evidence of a rich cultural history.

The historical farm buildings at Gut Thansen, water mills, rush meadows, and diatomaceous earth ponds line the way. Along the Schwindebeck section (6.8 km), you can discover information about the natural and cultural history of the Lüneburg Heath in stamp boxes. Collect stamp imprints for the Amelinghausen Heath Diploma and combine the tour into a small heath rally – fun for young and old alike.
