In brevity lies the spice - if one were to measure this stage against the famous saying, it must be true! At the beginning, it is the lush, flat meadows, soon followed by small villages with remarkable, historic buildings. Next, one enters a vast forest area with romantically located large and small lakes. The idea that one is here in the midst of a former mining area, and very close to the cities of Bonn and Cologne, is not so easy to grasp. The lake landscape is a beautiful example of how human interventions through reclamation measures are hardly noticeable today. By the way: from the first lake by the wayside, the Berggeistsee, you can easily walk to the well-known amusement park Phantasialand in Brühl in a short time.
