The Leinepolder near Salzderhelden serves as a retention basin for winter flooding of the Leine River and its tributaries. It is a valuable breeding ground for many rare birds and a refuge for migratory birds traveling from north to south. We describe a pleasurable tour (approx. 20 km) along the polder with the opportunity to observe many birds but also to stop and relax comfortably.
