Castle Route (SR2)

This bike tour is suitable for experienced cyclists with good condition. Unfortunately, some sections that run along country roads cannot be avoided.
The bike tour starts at the Sorpedamm car park. From the lakeside stage, the branch "Am Ehrenmal" leads to the monument and lookout tower of Langscheid. A good opportunity for a stop to gather strength again and enjoy the view high above the roofs of Langscheid and the exceptional view of the Sorpesee.
The tour continues past the Baroque palace Melschede, the "Melscheder Mühle" and the water castle Wocklum with its equestrian facility, where the international equestrian tournament "Balve Optimum" takes place every year.
Another highlight is the Luisenhütte in Balve. This is the oldest known blast furnace plant in Germany and houses a museum and a place to eat. The tour is completed with a drive along the Sorpe dam.
