Lower Saxony Milk Route Cycling Tour 1 (of 3)

From the Christkind village Himmelpforten, tour 1 leads to the Oste in Osteland, where relics from past times can be found with two flat-bottomed ferries. In Brobergen, there is a motor-powered ferry, in Gräpel, passengers are pulled across the idyllic Oste by muscle power. "Ferryman, take us over" is the call for the cyclists. Past the nature reserve "Hohes Moor" - where two hiking trails invite you to explore the moor - the journey continues to Oldendorf. For those who fancy a walk in the forest, they can use the 2.5 km long nature trail Sunde between Oldendorf and Heinbockel, before passing by the windmill Amanda in Grefenmoor on the way back to the Christkind village Himmelpforten. It is also said that one should always leave a glass of milk for Santa Claus. And so the circle closes. Here, there is a train connection to the Metronom towards the Hanseatic city of Stade to Hamburg or to Cuxhaven on the North Sea.
