Circular route Finkenborn - Riepen

Hikers can expect nature-friendly managed, diverse forest areas and dreamy views. Highlights include the Klüt with its observation tower, a forest educational trail, and the forest inn Finkenborn.
The hike starts at the Finkenborn Forester's Lodge. From there, follow hiking trail No. 1 eastward along the long-distance hiking trail E1. Once you reach the Klüt tower, continue on hiking trail No. 1 southward towards Riepensteinbruch. From there, the path leads west until you reconnect with the long-distance hiking trail E1. Now simply follow the path back north-east until you reach your starting point at the Forester's Lodge again.
The Klüt tower that you pass by has an exciting history: Until 1784, three forts with ramparts, walls, dry moats, casemates, and outlying redoubts were built here. In 1806, the fortress was handed over without a fight to Napoleon's troops. The observation tower was eventually built using the stones from Fort George.
