Pilgrimage in Lippe - West Loop

The western loop runs - starting from the monastery church in Blomberg - over the windmill stump towards Alverdissen, the path leads to the former pilgrimage site Hillentrup. Again and again there are magnificent views where, among other things, the impressive Sternberg Castle can be seen. We continue our hike to the old Hanseatic city of Lemgo with its medieval city center. The path leads via Brake Castle and its oil mill, through the detour of the village of Heiden to Detmold. The residential city, with its historic city center, the Hermann monument, and the princely residence castle, invites you to linger. Before the pilgrimage route then passes the largest open-air museum in Germany, past the Bärenstein (Lippe's oldest nature reserve) and the famous Externsteine to Horn. In the late Romanesque town church, we focus our attention on the baptismal font with its baptismal canopy. The path leads through the Bad Meinberg spa park via Reelkirchen back to Blomberg.

The route connects Lippe's churches as architectural monuments and testimonies of faith and invites you to discover the rich cultural heritage before and after the Reformation in Lippe.
