MIN Heather Flower Tour

The 67 km long circular tour connects the districts of Uelzen and Celle. It leads from Suderburg along the Hardau river first to Hösseringen. Here you can eat cake in the Old Village School and browse in the Aunt Emma shop. You cycle on a forest road to the museum village of Hösseringen. In historical buildings, exhibitions, farm gardens, and on action days, it tells the story of the life and work of the Heidjer. Nearby, the forest history trail Schooten begins. From Schooten, the bike tour continues to Unterlüß. You cycle through deep forests with partly ancient trees and reach the hiking parking lot "Lüßwald". Here the approximately 7 km long hiking trail "Primeval Forest in Lüß" starts. The next destination is the southern outskirts of Unterlüß. On the way lies the Albert-König Museum with works of the artist and the interactive exhibition on the treasure trove Kieselgur. From Unterlüß you reach Oberohe with a heath area in the former Kieselgur extraction area. Birches, junipers, and heather alternate with Kieselgur pits that have become ponds or are covered with trees. At the Oberohe parking lot, a Kieselgur educational trail starts. The tour continues around the 94-meter-high Faßberg. At the top is the only summit cross in the Lüneburg Heath. A trip to the "summit" is worthwhile because one of the largest and most beautiful juniper forests in Europe stretches out here. Passing heath areas and sometimes through forests, sometimes through open landscapes, you cycle to Brambostel. In front of it is the nature reserve "Brambosteler Moor", a predominantly wooded moor area in the source area of the Gerdau. The next destination is Lintzel. The "Blue Path" begins at the forestry office. On foot, you can feel the forest floor with moss, needles and leaf litter, or humus and sand. Here the path may and should be left: Follow the blue signs through the forest to wild-romantic spots, trees with beards, exotic old gentlemen. Back on the cycle path, you reach Brockhöfe and cycle on to Ellerndorf. Stop in the Ellerndorf juniper heath, the largest heath area in the Uelzen region. In summer, when the heather blooms, you can also meet the shepherd with his Heidschnucken and the café in the sheep stable is open. Via Linden, you reach Groß Süstedt. From there, take a detour through the nature reserve "Mönchsbruch". Via Bargfeld and Bahnsen you reach the destination Suderburg.
