Eduard Mörike lived in Bad Mergentheim from 1844 to 1851. During this time, he wrote "Idylle vom Bodensee" and new poems. In 1851, Mörike married the officer's daughter Margarethe Speeth in the castle church. A special Mörike cabinet in the Deutschordensmuseum commemorates this time. You can also visit the grave of his daughter Marie in the old cemetery.

The start and finish of the circular route is the market square. The house at Marktplatz 7 is where Mörike lived for almost his entire time in Bad Mergentheim.
