The approx. 6 km long cross-country skiing tour starts at the Old Train Station, at the motorhome parking lot at the end of Rothenberger Strasse.
The "Rail Trail" is an easy target trail marked with blue arrows. It goes steadily but only moderately uphill until just before Clausthal. At the end of the former railway line, the trail turns right towards Hausherzberger Teich to the Waldsee Holiday Park.
DSV Premium Trail
This trail is a certified DSV Premium Trail.
Together with municipalities in the western Harz region and the districts of Goslar and Osterode am Harz, the Safety in Skiing Foundation (SIS) and the German Ski Association (DSV) have been working in recent years for a qualitative development of the trail network in the Harz region. The trails have been certified as DSV nordic aktiv centers according to international criteria, signposted with a uniform system, and equipped with information boards.
