Floodplain Cycle Path

The Bürener Land is very diverse in landscape and extremely interesting in terms of cultural history. It is crisscrossed by many hiking trails, but cyclists often find it too hilly. Thus, the idea arose to develop a circular cycling route that even less experienced cyclists can complete in one day and which largely runs without inclines.

The 44 km long Auenradweg meets these requirements. It leads along the rivers Alme, Nette, Lühlingsbach, Aabach, and Afte through one of the most scenic regions of Bürener Land.

The route along the river meadows offers rare flora and fauna typical of the floodplains, as well as natural history and cultural-historical sites related to the theme of water:

- The Aabach reservoir as a drinking water reservoir for the region
- Kneipp facilities in the natural experience valley of the Aa
- Waterfowl at the retention basin Keddinghauser See
- Historic watermills in Büren
- Amphibian and fish educational trails
- Raft meadows
- And limestone alluvial cones.

Apart from short stretches near Bleiwäsche, there are hardly any inclines along the route.
