Hellweg Radio Spa Route

The cycle route forms the shape of a triangle and can be ridden as a "round tour" or in individual stages from spa to spa. Picturesque villages, interesting country inns, but above all the spa resorts themselves along the way, with their parks, saltworks, thermal brine baths, bathing and spa facilities, as well as the dining establishments, invite you to take a break and linger on the tour. The Hellweg Radio Spa Route is signposted on both sides by the logo above, so it can be ridden in different directions.

Route course: 1. Bad Sassendorf - Bad Westernkotten (18.2 km) - The route starts in the center of Bad Sassendorf. From here, it runs parallel to the Hellweg in an easterly direction via Bad Sassendorf, Lohne, and Schallern to Schmerlecke. The route then continues via Völlinghausen and Erwitte to Bad Westernkotten. / 2. Bad Westernkotten - Bad Waldliesborn (10.9 km) - This short section leads north into the city of Lippstadt. After crossing the Lippe and the Boker Canal, an old drainage canal in the former swamp and moor area of Lipperbruch, you finally reach Bad Waldliesborn. / 3. Bad Waldliesborn - Bad Sassendorf (25.4 km) - From Bad Waldliesborn, the route now heads southwest back to the starting point of Bad Sassendorf. Along the Glenne, a tributary of the Lippe, and the Boker Canal, you pass through Lippstadt - Cappel, a suburb of Lippstadt with a more rural character. The route then goes through Hellinghausen and Benninghausen to the south through Lohe, Wiggeringhausen, and Merklinghausen to Schallern and then back to the spa town of Bad Sassendorf.

Along the way, there is much to discover, such as the chapels in Schallern, Merklinghausen, and Lohe, the St. Martin Church in Benninghausen, the collegiate church in Cappel, the town hall and the Marienkirche in Lippstadt, Schloss Erwitte, the St. Laurentius Church and the market square in Erwitte, the St. Stephanus Church in Völlinghausen, the windmill and the chapel of St. Antonius in Schmerlecke.
With its few inclines, the Hellweg Radio Spa Route is an easy, family-friendly route.
