Historic city and town centers in the Rhineland. Stage 1

The first stage starts in the historic city center of Kalkar directly on the impressive marketplace with a Gothic town hall, numerous stepped gable houses, the Gerichtslinde; the St. Nicolai Church and the City Museum are only a few bike lengths away. Parking spaces are located directly at the wall zone in front of the moated city center, e.g. at the city windmill. With gentle Lower Rhine gradients and rushing descents, the route leads past Uedem to Winnekendonk and to the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer, from there further to Wetten and then always following south of the Niers through the city of Geldern to the picturesque Wachtendonk. The entire route follows the signposted junction system.
