Village museum:

Built in 1889 from local limestone, the Fischer house has been home to the Schlangen village museum since 1993. Over 5000 objects provide insights into the former everyday life of the Sennerand residents. Agriculture and craftsmanship are also addressed, as well as learning and playing, living conditions in earlier times, and much more.


Winning Mill:

At the junction of the Old Bielefeld Post Road towards Haustenbeck, the Winning Mill rises on a hill. A predecessor building made of wood, built in 1896 as a signal station, had already been demolished in 1935. The current mill facade, which often served as the backdrop for British military parades after World War II, was built in 1943.


Ems Information Center:

The EmsQuellen information center in the Moosheide nature reserve is the starting point of the Ems Cycle Path, leading from Hövelhof to the North Sea towards Emden. The exhibition presents the diverse natural and cultural landscapes along the Ems. Information about the river is also provided by the Ems Adventure World of the city of Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock, just a few kilometers away.

Haustenbeck Church Ruin:

Located in the military restricted area, the ruins of Haustenbeck Church recall the Sennedorf founded in 1659, which had to make way for the military training area expansion in 1939. The remaining perimeter walls of the former church are protected as a monument, as is the nearby Haustenbeck Tower, built in 1940/41 as an observation tower.
