This challenging day tour leads from Buchenau to the Schachten. These former forest-free overnight stops for shepherds and their animals are ecologically and historically significant islands in the Bavarian Forest National Park. Parts of the trail run along boardwalks through mystical moorland and to the mysterious dark mountain pine lake. You return along the Frauenau drinking water reservoir.
