Starting in Frauenau, the quite sporty cycle route leads past the Frauenau drinking water dam through the source area of our drinking water in the national park to the "Alpine pastures of the Bavarian Forest", as the Schachten are also known. Gnarled old individual trees and rare flowering plants make them culturally, historically and ecologically significant islands in the National Park's sea of forests. The Schachten themselves can only be explored on foot, which is why there is a bicycle parking area at the Hochschachten.
