Dachsberg 30: Von der Teufelsküche über den Albsteig

Circular hike from the legendary Teufelsküche via the Albsteig trail, partly in the valley and partly above with a view, to Immeneich. Via Happingen and Wilfingen on steep paths up and down back to the Teufelsküche.

The Albstrudel Teufelsküche is a legendary, approximately 100 m long narrow passage in the riverbed of the Alb. At 543 meters, it is the lowest point in the municipality of Dachsberg.The many washed-out swirl holes are striking, in which the water swirls around in a roar, especially when the snow is melting or after heavy rainfall. In some places, you can see the powerful elemental forces with which it has carved its way around the mighty boulders of hard Alb granite since the last ice age.

Daredevils - the water is very cold - use the pools between the boulders as a romantic natural bathing spot in quiet times. The Teufelsküche area is only accessible in dry weather when there is no snow.

After this, the route follows beautiful paths on the Albsteig trail through the flatter part of the Alb valley. Via Happingen, we come to Wilfingen, which lies like a viewing platform between the Alb and Ibach valleys.
The Bärenhof farm with its schnapps distillery and farm store is well worth a visit here.

IInteresting facts about the places along the way:

Wilfingen lies on a south-facing plateau of the southern Dachsberg. It was first mentioned historically in 1266. The Pantaleon Chapel was mentioned as early as 1463. Today's little church was rebuilt in 1686 and enlarged in 1743. The carillon on the hour is worth a visit.</p
