Höhendorf-Wanderung

Way description: From the parking lot in front of the sports field, head back towards the village and turn left onto Fortunastrasse. Between orchards and fields, the trail descends gently to the edge of the forest, where you turn right and follow the gentle bends through the conifers. Before a sharp left turn, the Rutschstein appears at the edge of the path. Wind and rain have given this block of red sandstone soft, mossy contours over the millennia. Perhaps you will unravel the mystery of the two parallel grooves?

The hike continues over the Rösbuckel up to the Gebhardshütte. Now the path takes a sharp right turn and leads northwest down to the Ebersberger Felsenmeer. Scattered stone blocks, some of which are wedged into each other, look like creatures that have grown out of the ground and are waiting for Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf. The foundations of many old Bullau houses and stables were built with these sandstones, which have been hardened by silica. About 700 meters after leaving the sea of rocks, the path turns right. (If you want to halve the circular route, follow the markings of the connecting path at district road 42).

Just under three kilometers after the Felsenmeer, you will reach the Bullauer Bild. The wayside shrine, which once grew into a tree, was restored after it collapsed and rebuilt.

From here, the path runs relatively straight until it becomes mysterious again after a left-hand loop. Dark forest accompanies us down to the Bullauer Eutergrund nature reserve. The hamlet spreads out before us like a village from a bygone era. Enjoy the idyll of the wild and romantic Diebsgrund and Eutergrund valleys once again before hiking back up to Bullau.
