"Wildromantische Hirschbornteiche" Spessartspur

The Spessart trail "Wildromantische Hirschbornteiche" is a wonderful walking trail through the impressive forests of the Hessian Spessart Nature Park. The circular hiking trail along the slopes of the Klingbach valley leads mostly through ancient, pure deciduous forests, which have been part of the "Alsberger Hang" natural forest reserve since 1997. The juxtaposition of woodrush and woodruff beech forests and the stands of old, gnarled sessile oaks are a nursery and habitat for bats, rare birds and other wildlife. Enjoy and respect the tranquillity of this beautiful woodland area with them.

The tour starts along the romantically situated Hirschbornteiche ponds before climbing steadily uphill to an altitude of 320 meters through old oak and beech forests. The Waldweiher nature reserve in the meadows of the Klingbachtal valley is crossed via a former Küppeldamm dam. Behind the Mühlwiese, a large clearing in the forest, some wonderful paths lead through unspoilt natural forest back to the hiking parking lot at the Hirschbornteichen.
