"Merneser Jossatal" Spessartspur

The premium hiking trail "Merneser Jossatal" starts on a path along this lively Spessart watercourse of the Jossa, past the outdoor pool, the Kneipp facility and numerous traces of beaver activity. Shortly before the Bannwald forest, the trail climbs and hikers are rewarded with fantastic views of the Jossa valley to the east and across to the wooded Spessart heights of the 464-metre-high Stacken mountain above the resort of Merners. Again and again, small streams cut into the slope across the hiking route. A panoramic path soon takes you down to the beautiful resort of Mernes, located directly on the Jossa river. Half-timbered houses and the church of St. Peter form the center of the tranquil Spessart village. A narrow path, past the wayside shrine of St. Joseph, takes you back to the starting point at the sports field in Mernes.

The Spessart Trail has been certified by the German Hiking Institute with the German Hiking Seal for Premium Hiking Trails.

There is a lovely place to stop for refreshments in Mernes, not far from the starting point of the trail: Gasthaus Zum Jossatal is a certified quality host Wanderbares Deutschland and offers everything a hiker's heart desires.

Attention! Due to the proximity to MRSC Mernes, increased noise pollution from motocross/enduro bikes may be expected during the club's training times.
