Lausitzer Schlange - Variante Oberlausitz (West)

The Oberlausitz West variant of the Lusatian Snake long-distance hiking trail starts at the train station in Seifhennersdorf. We immediately hike in a northerly direction via Silberteich to Neugersdorf on the Czech border. From here, we continue along the border to Schlechteberg and via Ebersbach to the village of Neufriedersdorf. In the Fichtelschänke tavern there, we can fortify ourselves for the remaining kilometers ahead of us. Now we leave the Czech border again. After Neusalza-Spremberg, we follow paths through the forest via Beiersdorf to Cunewalde. The trail leads us north to the observation tower on the Czorneboh and via Rachlau, Rieschen and Daranitz to Rabitz. From here, we take a westerly direction and march into the town of Bautzen, where we take a break. Now we continue along the Spree for a good stretch through Grubschütz and Singwitz towards Mönchswalde. We leave the banks of the Spree at Mönchswalde and walk past Mönchswalder Berg through Wilthen to Steinigtwolmsdorf. The last few kilometers of the western Upper Lusatian long-distance variant lead us through a dense forest and past the Goldberg to our destination of Valtenberg.
