Bestwiger Panoramaweg (B)

The Panorama Trail has been regularly awarded the title "Quality Trail Hikeable Germany" by the German Hiking Association since 2011. It is characterized by a varied mix of quiet forest paths, well-kept village views, and attractive outlooks.
The ideal starting point is in the bustling center of Bestwig at the train station or town hall, where there are ample parking opportunities available. The 56 kilometers of trail can be easily divided into stages from place to place.
The trail is well signposted and passes by many sights of the region such as: Valme Reservoir, Old Army and Pilgrimage Trail, Clifftop Trail over Andreasberg, Stüppel Tower in the Fort Fun amusement park, the only natural waterfall in North Rhine: the "Plästerlegge", the former mining areas of Dörnberg, Alte Ries, and Bastenberg, smokestacks in Ramsbeck and Ostwig, Venetian Mine and the Sauerland Visitor Mine. Not to mention the magnificent views over the Ruhr and Valmetal.
The Panorama Trail is ideal for multi-day tours with its high standards. The nearly 2,000 meters in altitude alone indicate how challenging this hiking trail is. Three hiking inns and many other accommodation facilities are located directly on the trail.
