Planetenweg Sohland a.d. Spree

Many people are fascinated by the seemingly infinite vastness of the universe. We are often overwhelmed by the numerical values that are used to try and explain our solar system alone.
The Sohland Planet Trail aims to make the dimensions of the cosmos a little more comprehensible by presenting the planets in the order of their distance from the sun in a spatial model on a scale of 1:1.4 billion.
The starting point is the relief of the solar system right next to the observatory. From here, the path leads to display panels on which the individual planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are presented in easy-to-understand texts - also in Czech.
The panels not only show the dimensions of the planets, but also the physical conditions to be found there.
The trail not only contributes to expanding your own knowledge, but also provides wonderful views of the town and the lovely landscape that surrounds Sohland.
The way back can be along the Planet Trail again or through the silence of the forest along the nature trail "On the trail of the red wood ant". This is also described in this system. Here only so far: an entry point is reached by walking downhill along the Baudenweg, turning right and then immediately left again along Hainspacher Straße. At the border crossing for pedestrians, you can follow the path to the left.
