The Ostsee-Saaletalsperren long-distance hiking trail connects the federal states of Mecklemburg-Western Pomerania, Brandenburg, Saxony and Thuringia.
In eastern Saxony, it crosses almost 50 km of the Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape and connects unique regional features such as the "UESCO Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape Biosphere Reserve", the Sorbian settlement area and the Lusatian carp pond region.
