The field wild herb path shows you at 17 stations around the fields of the Nature Conservation Park (VNP) Landscape Conservation Farm Tütsberg, where the most important crops and their wild companions come from. It provides information about the history of agriculture and the use of wild and cultivated plants. It also explains why many wild plants are highly endangered today and what we can do to protect the colorful field wild herbs.
What are field wild herbs? Field wild herbs can be described as all wild plants that grow in a field without human intervention.
The most well-known field wild herbs are chamomile, poppy, and cornflower. In addition, there are many unknown, interesting, and endangered species such as seed hollow tooth and chickweed, which are typical for the Lüneburg Heath.
Around 350 species are classified as field wild herbs in Central Europe. The Nature Conservation Park Association aims to draw attention specifically to the field wild herbs of the Lüneburg Heath with the field wild herb path.
