The Wendland Tour takes you past round villages with mysteriously sounding names like Waddeweitz, Satemin, or Kukate. They hark back to the Slavic origins of the round villages. The Slavs, also known as Wends in northern Germany, once settled the land between the Elbe and Drawehn rivers and spoke their own language, Drawänopolabisch. At the Rundlingsmuseum in Lübeln, the history of the Rundlings and the life and work of the people in the last centuries come alive and are tangible. Today, it is the Wendländer who shape and make their round villages and towns charming and livable. The small half-timbered town of Lüchow, through which the family-friendly Wendland Tour takes you, offers a harmonious backdrop that invites you to linger. Numerous artists, craftsmen, and musicians have also discovered Wendland for themselves and enrich the life of this diverse natural and cultural landscape with their cultural diversity. A visit to the open studios is worthwhile!
