Via Sacra - von Görlitz nach Hagenwerder

We say goodbye to the impressive urban pearl of Görlitz. From the train station and the city center, we head down to the Neisse. After all the sacred highlights, we treat ourselves to something a little different: the Landskron brewery. A worthwhile visit.
The path to Landeskrone leads first in the shade along the Neisse river and then on creeping and bush paths, always well marked and surprisingly pleasant towards the mountain. The valley, the Feldmühlgraben with its impressive trees, provides a mental break. Briefly through the suburbs, then steeply up to the dominant feature. Down through beautiful mixed deciduous forest and then straight on to Pfaffendorf and the Kreuzberg. The rare Turk's cap lilies bloom there. Via an avenue of cherries and then secluded forest paths on the former spoil heap of the open-cast lignite mine, we reach the hidden tower on the Neuberzsdorfer Höhe. It offers a stunning panoramic view. A steady, gentle descent along a wide track takes us to Lake Berzdorf and the Blue Lagoon beach. This is perfect for a swim and promises a pleasant cool-down. We walk along the lake to the sleepy village of Hagenwerder.
