Schanzenweg

The starting point for the hike is Gersdorfer Winkel in the Boderitz district of Elstra. From there, the trail leads to the Kälberberg (364 m above sea level) with the remains of a rampart castle and a summit book, to the Boderitz redoubt, the mammoth garden in Prietitz, the redoubt in Prietitz, which was probably built in the 10th century as a refuge by the Milzen people who lived in the region at the time, and to the town of Elstra, where the Frommhold pottery, the market and Elstra Castle are well worth seeing and visiting. The route then continues via the quarry in Rauschwitz to the Luchsenburg forest area, where it passes the Hochstein (449 m above sea level) and the source of the Black Elster. The trail continues over the Leipsberg to the Ostroer Schanze.
The hiking trail is marked with a yellow line throughout. It is possible to take a shortcut from the Rauschwitz quarry to Kindisch. This eliminates the challenging ascents and descents to the Hochstein and the source of the Schwarze Elster.
