Description by the author

The Black Elster Cycle Route is a connection between the West Lusatian hills and mountains, the Lusatian lake district and the Elbe. The Black Elster rises on the edge of the Hochstein near Kindisch (town of Elstra) and flows into the Elbe near the town of Elster. In the Saxon region, the cycle tour mostly leads through meadows and forests, always close to the Black Elster. The route is slightly hilly to flat. Only in the immediate vicinity of the source of the Black Elster is the route very steep and difficult to cycle. Later in the Brandenburg section, the route mainly runs along the embankment of the Schwarze Elster on well-maintained cycle paths, with some sections on quiet country roads for nature conservation reasons. The Schwarze Elster cycle path is signposted throughout. The logo shows an Elster stylized above a river course.
