In the Uedem Hochwald, hikers will find a well-marked network of hiking trails.
Until the beginning of the 17th century, the Hochwald was a pure deciduous forest area, which was connected to the Reichswald near Kleve via small forests and heath areas. Due to various reforestation measures until the 19th century, pine stands accounted for a large proportion of the area. On January 18th and 19th, 2007, the hurricane "Kyrill" hit the Uedem Hochwald very strongly. Particularly in the northeastern part of the forest, large windbreaks occurred.
