5.6 km long circular route east of Rühen
The nature trail leads through the Lower Saxony part of the Drömling, the largest wetland area in the region with international significance. Since the 18th century, the Drömling has been drained and cultivated for agriculture through human intervention. Habitats of animals and plants have been altered and even threatened in their existence. At seven stations, the nature trail shows the transformation from a natural to a cultural landscape.
