With the TERRA.track Schmittenhöhe, you can explore the forest area Breite Heide and the Kalkrieser Berg northwest of Ostercappeln in the Evinghausen district of Bramsche in the Wiehengebirge.
Right nearby, the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest is said to have taken place here in 9 AD between the Romans and the Germans. Just a few kilometers away from this TERRA.track is the Museum Varusschlacht and Park Kalkriese. More than 2000 years after the battle between the Romans and the Germans, Kalkriese is still a special place today. For almost 30 years, scientific investigations into the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest have been carried out here.
