Hike Voerde 1: Rhine and Momm lowlands

This route will always make you familiar with the Rhine in one way or another: It leads you along the current course of the river on the Rhine dike, as well as - with dry feet - through the Momm wetlands, a former, now dried-up old Rhine arm.

Sheep grazing on the dike or lazily blocking the path on the Rhynumschen Weg, which once led to a long-forgotten and sunken village. the idyllic village of Löhnen, the southernmost mound village of the RhineStorks wading through the lush meadows the historic and over 1000-year-old Rhine village of Götterswickerhamm with the Evangelical Church designed by the Prussian architect Karl Friedrich Schinkelthe rare little owl that nests in the Momm wetlands.

The route is consistently flat, making it enjoyable even for inexperienced hikers.
