Kleine Vogelherd-Überschreitung von Frauenried

We start at the imposing Frauenried pilgrimage church and walk along the road to the west. After about 100m, we can turn left onto a farm track that leads across an open field to a shed. We keep right in front of the shed and follow the path through the forest. We barely noticeably gain height and after a while find ourselves below the hamlet of Kalchöd. Here we suddenly take a sharp left onto a small rooty path that leads us to the road to Kalchöd. Keeping to the right, we follow this road briefly in a westerly direction until we can turn right again onto the path to Vogelherd. Past the Vogelherd monument, the path leads over a ridge covered with beech trees until an open space opens up in front of us: The highlight of our little tour! We take a break at a bench and enjoy the view to the north over the Irschenberg and as far as the Ratzinger Höhe, just before Lake Chiemsee. We head downhill along a farm track towards the Einsiedler-Hof Hollertal (in winter you can use the Popo slide here for a short time!) and then downhill along the forest road to a timber yard on the little-used state road to Frauenried. Follow this road for a short distance (approx. 900m) until you reach the starting point again.
