Zum Taubenberg

From Warngau station, we walk along Bahnhofstraße to the B318. Through the underpass we reach the center of Oberwarngau. There we walk along Taubenbergstraße past the parish church. Attention: do not follow the sign to the Taubenberg! Instead, we follow the little road to the left, which leads into a field path. We walk along it to Osterwarngau. Our tip: be sure to visit the Frauenkirche church in the northern part of the village. We then turn into the "Nüchternbrunnweg". After approx. 500m, we follow the signpost to Nüchternbrunn at the edge of the forest and walk along the so-called Taferlweg. The path leads steeply in places through the Taubenberg forest. In the flatter part, we later cross a forest road, then hike downhill to a clearing. Here we find the charming Marienwallfahrtskirche Nüchternbrunn. Immediately to the right of the little church, we follow the signpost for "Gasthaus Taubenberg". After descending a few steps, we reach a forest path and then a wide hiking trail, which leads us in curves and slightly uphill to the "Gasthaus Taubenberg". There we turn right and follow the hiking trail to Taubenberghöhe. At the chapel, a forest path leads us half right to the lookout tower at the highest point of the Taubenberg. We have been given the key to the tower in return for a deposit at the Taubenberg inn. We enjoy a wonderful view of the mountains! After a nice rest, we follow the forest path and shortly afterwards the signpost for "Oberwarngau", which takes us back to the starting point of the tour.
